China bans imports of Polish poultry products to prevent avian flu
The General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China announced that Poland reported an outbreak of H5N1 avian flu in Lubuskie Province to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) on Aug.23.
To prevent the spread of the virus and protect China's livestock and biosecurity, imports of poultry and related products from Poland are banned.
Starting Wednesday (Sept. 4), any poultry products shipped from Poland will be returned or destroyed. Products shipped before this date will undergo strict quarantine and testing, and will only be released if they pass inspection.
