The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, began his visit to Paris, France, yesterday (Sept. 4, Paris time).
Yeung visited the 2024 Paris Paralympic Village and met with the Hong Kong, China Delegation, including individual athletes who have completed their competitions, to learn about their Paralympic journey, and share in the joy of the medallists.
He then went to various venues to watch the games competed by Hong Kong athletes, including swimming, wheelchair fencing and boccia, and cheered for them.
Yeung said the Paralympic Games is a high-level international competition held once every four years. The Hong Kong, China Delegation, with a total of 23 athletes competing in eight events this year, has so far won six medals, namely two golds, three silvers and one bronze. It demonstrates the efforts that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has been putting in to nurture athletes.
He praised all athletes for their perseverance, and expressed gratitude to the China Hong Kong Paralympic Committee, coaches and the medical team for their support.
He also expressed hope that the Hong Kong athletes would continue to give their best for the remainder of the Paralympic Games and bring honor to Hong Kong.
