New semester arrives: 7 effective learning methods to keep

Have you adjusted your study mode after the holidays?

Today we recommend 7 practical and efficient methods of study. Hope they are helpful to you!

1. Create a mind map

We absorb information in a cluttered way much of the time, which can be filtered through a clear framework to avoid the distraction of invalid information.

Three steps to do this: build the framework, optimize the framework, and fill the framework. Build your own mind map, so that the scattered knowledge points to its own place.

When it is time to use these knowledge points, you can follow the "map" to quickly retrieve the right one.

2. Brake the illusion of learning

There is some knowledge we think we have mastered, but it is wrong to "know well" as  "aware of". You will instantly forget 30% or 40% knowledge after closing the book to do a simple self-test.

How to avoid this illusion?

According to action learning theory, in order to master a skill, a person needs to spend 10% of the time learning knowledge and information, 70% of the time practicing, and 20% of the time communicating and discussing with others.

If you hear the content of knowledge that you did not already know, this is at best receiving information rather than learning it for yourself. There is still a lack of practice and exploration.

3. Narrate in your own words

Most of the knowledge learned at the beginning belongs to "short-term memory". In order to remember it for a long time, it must transform "short-term memory" into "long-term memory" through "processing".

So, what does "processing" mean? It refers to the processing of knowledge points, the key is to describe them in your own words. The knowledge points to be memorized, with your own language logic and language habits connecting "points" into "lines", strung into a logical content.

When you can use your own language, and accurately repeat what you need to remember, then congratulations, this knowledge has been invariably transformed into your knowledge experience.

4. Memorize less knowledge, not more, then memorize from less to more

The trick to memorizing large passages of text is to select the most central sentence to memorize first, consolidate it, and then go on to the details.

A book has a large amount of content to help understanding. If you are willing to memorize the content, it is easy to memorize everything at that time. But if you forget the order of content when you are nervous during the exam, you will forget all like the domino effect.

It is reminded to remember "less but the essence" of the core content, and then gradually add "more and extended" details.

5. Learn to "change the channel"

In the process of learning, concentrating two hours on the same subject and learning different knowledge separately, the effect may be very different.

In fact, the reason like fitness. Your purpose today is to train your chest, but you can not do all about chest strength training in an hour or two time inside. There will be some exercises mixed in between, such as endurance training, to ensure that the chest muscles have a recovery time.

Alternate learning, by switching different subjects to switch your thinking, is guaranteed to give your brain time to adjust, which in turn improves the efficiency of your learning.

6. Deliberate practice

You may wonder why your grades haven't improved even though you've done a lot of questions. The reason is that you will spend a long time on the questions you already know how to do, while you do not practice enough on the important and difficult knowledge that you have not fully mastered.

In order to solve these problems, psychologist Erik Homburger Erikson proposed a method called Deliberate Practice, that is, "spend more time on the weak areas, and continue to focus on the key points".

Focus on a difficult topic without skipping any steps, and make sure you have a deep understanding of each step, especially the part of the problem that bothers you the most.

7. Motivate positive emotions

Studies have shown that if you continue to do something without negative emotions, you will naturally become interested in it after a certain amount of time. The way to become interested in reading and learning is to take out a fixed period of time every day to read and learn without any negative emotions, and over time you will enjoy reading and learning.

Learn with pleasure, while understanding:

The knowledge we really need requires constant hard work to acquire; the abilities we really need have to be refined through constant practice; and the experience we truly want needs to be tested by time. None of this is easy, but when we learn something, it's all worth it.
