CE inspects Kai Tak Sports Park
Chief Executive John Lee shared his insights from his recent visit to Kai Tak Sports Park, which he led last Tuesday (August 27) alongside several government officials.
The visit aimed to assess the construction progress of the sports park and gather reports on surrounding facilities and crowd evacuation drills.
Lee also sought opinions from industry stakeholders regarding the park's development and sports promotion, which will provide him with various perspectives for his upcoming policy address.
"Kai Tak Sports Park is a crucial component in supporting the elite, popular, event-driven, professional, and industrialized development of sports, as outlined in last year's Policy Address," Lee noted that the main structural work for the youth sports ground, indoor sports center, and main stadium is nearing completion, with interior finishing and landscaping also underway.
During the inspection, he urged the working group to ensure the park's timely completion to solidify Hong Kong's position as a mega event capital. He also reminded staff to pay attention to execution details, enhance response capabilities, and ensure smooth operations post-completion.
Prior to its official opening, Kai Tak Sports Park will conduct various drills and trial events to adjust and continuously optimize its operational model and arrangements for large-scale activities. Strategies will be modified as needed to improve response efficiency.
Once completed, the Sports Park will serve as a large-scale integrated sports and leisure entertainment landmark in Hong Kong. Several local and international event promotion organizations have already planned to utilize its world-class facilities, with a series of major entertainment events set to take place at the park.
Lee revealed that a grand opening event is scheduled for the first quarter of next year (2025), where many local sports and arts stars will perform on the world-class stage of the main stadium, providing audiences with a series of spectacular performances.
