Sun Yang represents Zhejiang at National Summer Swimming Championships

The 2024 National Summer Swimming Championships kicked off today (Aug. 25) in Hefei, Anhui, with swimming star Sun Yang competing for the Zhejiang team.

On the first day of competition, he will participate in the men's 400-meter freestyle event, where he set an Olympic record in 2012 that still stands.

This marks his return to the competitive arena after 1,680 days. On the 24th, Sun Yang trained at the Hefei Sports Center. After the training session, he stated in an interview, "I will give it my all."

According to the schedule, the preliminaries for six events in the first competition session will begin at 9:30 AM on the 25th, with the men's 400-meter freestyle preliminaries being the third event. The finals will start at 6:30 PM on the same day, with the men's 400-meter freestyle also being the third event.

Born in 1991, Sun Yang is the oldest athlete in this championship. He set the Olympic record for the men's 400-meter freestyle in 2012, becoming China's first male swimming Olympic champion, a record that still stands today.

Previously, Sun Yang mentioned, "Many people might ask me, 'Are you willing to keep going until 2028?' I believe in going with the flow. If there's an opportunity, I will give it my all; if not, I will let it go calmly."
