Watch This | Foreign travelers amazed by smart hotels in China amid visa policy changes
China's 144-hour visa-free transit policy has been expanded to 37 ports of entry and 54 countries. With favorable inbound tourism policies, more foreign tourists are choosing to travel to China.
Recently, many foreign bloggers have been amazed by the smart technology in Chinese hotels, posting videos on social media and expressing that it feels like being in a world of technology.
A reporter visited a hotel located next to Wangfujing Pedestrian Street in Beijing. According to the hotel manager, Zu Chunying, the number of foreign guests received before 2023 was "manageable." Still, since January of this year, the number of foreign guests has steadily increased, often accounting for 20% to 30% of the hotel's occupancy rate. The diversity of nationalities has also increased. At the same time, the hotel previously mainly hosted guests from Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, but this year, it has seen a rise in visitors from the UK, the US, Sweden, Liechtenstein, and Vietnam. "We’ve never encountered guests from these two countries before."
On Wangfujing Street, among the foreign tourists randomly interviewed, nearly all stated that they had stayed in smart hotels in China. Turkish tourist Makbule Afsar, who last visited Beijing in 2018, noted that there weren't as many smart devices back then. Now, hotels often feature smart toilets, delivery robots, and more, which are completely different from European styles. "I love these because high technology means providing more comfort for people."
Tourist Tamjeed from Pakistan was particularly surprised, exclaiming, "I opened the door, and a robot was standing at the entrance! I was so shocked; what was it doing outside my room?" Later, he realized that the cute robot was there to deliver food. "China's technology is constantly advancing; it's truly amazing!"
