For the first time, the United Kingdom has convicted a person who incited violence through social media during the riots. A man was sentenced to 20 months in prison for inciting protesters to attack a hotel housing more than 200 refugees in a Facebook posting. Another man was sentenced to 38 months in prison for inciting racial hatred by calling on protesters to burn down a refugee shelter hotel through social media.
