FPS service suspended on Sunday morning due to system upgrade
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced today (August 12) that due to a system enhancement, the Faster Payment System (FPS) will be suspended from 1 am to 11 am next Sunday (August 18).
According to the HKMA, as the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited, which is responsible for the operation of the FPS, plans to carry out a system enhancement of the system from 1:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Aug. 18 (Sunday), the FPS will be suspended from that time.
The HKMA has requested banks and merchants of stored value payment instruments to inform their customers of the relevant arrangements in advance and on time. Members of the public can contact their banks or stored value payment instrument operators to enquire about the details of the relevant services affected by the upgrade of FPS.
HKMA reminded the public to make payment arrangements in advance if necessary.
