Caution urged for Hongkongers in Japan following megaquake advisory
On Monday (Aug. 12), the government urged Hongkongers in Japan to be careful after the authorities warned that a "megaquake" would be possible.
Japanese officials issued their first-ever megaquake advisory last Thursday after a 7.1-magnitude quake hit the country's south.
The SAR administration said Hongkongers in Japan should exercise caution, attend to their personal safety, and pay attention to announcements about the latest situation.
The Security Bureau said it will continue to monitor the situation closely. It urged any Hong Kong residents who need help to contact the Immigration Department or the Chinese Embassy.
