Case of Drug Trafficking detected by C&ED at HKIA on Aug. 5
The Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) detected a case of drug trafficking by a passenger at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) on Aug. 5 and seized about 3.3 kg of suspected ketamine, with an estimated market value of about HK$1.6 million.
A 64-year-old male passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Amsterdam, the Netherlands via Helsinki, Finland on Aug.5. During customs clearance, Customs officers found about 3.3 kilograms of suspected ketamine in five packages of health supplements in his checked baggage and thus arrested him. The case is still under investigation.
