In his 2023 Policy Address, Chief Executive John Lee proposed to set up a National Security Exhibition Gallery to raise public awareness of national security and promote national security education in the community. After 10 months of preparation, the exhibition hall was opened today (Aug. 6) and will be open to the public starting tomorrow.

Zheng Yanxiong, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong, said in his speech that the opening of the National Security Exhibition Gallery in the Hong Kong Museum of History, a venue with a strong sense of importance, provides a meaningful and interesting place for the general public to go.

Zheng pointed out that recently, Hong Kong athletes stunned the world at the Paris Olympics, and two outstanding Hong Kong athletes, Edgar Cheung and Vivian Kong, have written legendary stories.

"While winning glory for Hong Kong and the country, they also fully demonstrated the spirit of self-improvement and persistence of Hong Kong youth in the new era, vividly interpreting the Lion Rock Spirit, and bringing confidence and inspiration for Hong Kong to promote high-quality development in the new stage."

Zheng mentioned that the recently concluded Third Plenary Session has laid out a blueprint for further deepening reforms to open up the prospect of Chinese-style modernization.

"Many of the major reforms decided by the Session are closely related to Hong Kong, providing a rare historical opportunity for the city to move forward from governance to prosperity, adding support, empowerment, fuel and vigor to the innovation and development, as well as providing a broad stage for the all-round development of the people of Hong Kong, in particular the young people."

According to Zheng, Hong Kong's backing of the Motherland and its connection with the world is its unique and unrivaled strengths for development, as well as its inherent and irreducible genes for success.

"I believe that under the leadership of Chief Executive John Lee, Hong Kong will continue to play the role of a 'super-connector', seize the opportunities, ride on the momentum, and make a new mark in the new journey from governance to prosperity."
