At every Olympic Games, participants interact uniquely, exchanging Olympic badges from their respective countries and regions.
Fifty-year-old Yorick from Germany is a passionate badge collector. He set up a "stall" outside the athletes' village, carrying a large bag of collectibles, eagerly waiting to trade. Yorick began collecting badges at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and has been doing so for 32 years. He attends nearly every Olympics to continue expanding his collection.
More valuable than the badges themselves are the stories behind each exchange. In addition to acquiring "trophies," the badge-swapping process allows him to chat and make friends with people worldwide. This has become a unique form of international socializing amidst the Olympic festivities.
