Starting today (July 30), foreign tourist groups from Hong Kong and Macao can enter Hainan province under a 144-hour visa-free transit regulation. Hainan is warm all year round and is located in the tropical area of southern China. The soft beaches and beautiful tropical scenery make it a famous holiday resort in China.

Food

• Wenchang chicken is a dish of marinated and boiled meat made with local free-range birds that munch on banyan seeds and are prized for their white flesh.
• The Hainan rice noodles with sour soup and pickled bamboo shoots are an alleyway favorite.
• Hainanese chicken rice is a dish of poached chicken and seasoned rice, served with chili sauce and ginger garlic sauce. It’s based on the well-known Hainanese dish Wenchang chicken
• Ching bo leung is a special dessert in Hainan. Its main ingredients are coconut milk and coconut slices, with some watermelon, lotus seeds, red jujubes, etc.
• The abundance of tropical fruit grown in Hainan is an attraction in itself. From alien-like rambutan with wriggly spines to enormous jackfruit and sweet and juicy coconut, visitors can enjoy a fruit feast in Hainan.

Haikou

Haikou is the capital city of Hainan province. It once served as an important port along the Maritime Silk Road and is today a key area of the Hainan free-trade island initiative.

Designed by MAD Architects, founded by Chinese architect Ma Yansong, the Wormhole Library sits on the coast in Haikou. It is one of the must-see attractions in Haikou. The sensuously curved pavilion cast with white concrete seems like a “wormhole” that transcends time and space. It is a multi-functional building that allows people to enjoy the views of the sea and read.

🏝Sanya

With miles of pearly white sand and clear waters, Sanya is regarded as China’s holiday hotspot all year round. There are many luxury resorts and well-designed rental apartments and villas in Sanya. One can imagine Sanya as Miami, a perfect place for a staycation.

The largest single duty-free shop in the world, CDF Sanya International Duty-Free City, is also located in Sanya. Visitors can find a collection of famous brands in the shopping mall. It is also a great place to visit during a staycation.
