Oxfam Hong Kong announced today (July 26) that its computer systems were subjected to a cyber attack discovered on the morning of July 10. The affected systems include those related to the Oxfam Trailwalker.

Oxfam Hong Kong has urged the public to take data security measures, emphasizing that they are actively working with cybersecurity experts to investigate the extent of the breach.

The organization has reported the incident to the police and notified the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data.

Oxfam Hong Kong stated that the incident might involve personal information, as the compromised system could hold data such as names, ID numbers, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and details of credit card donations or payments.

The organization is conducting a thorough investigation and implementing remedial actions, including engaging independent cybersecurity experts to conduct assessments and evaluations.

Oxfam Hong Kong has notified relevant Hong Kong agencies and departments, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data and the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre, and has filed a report with the police.
