Philippines detains at least 79 Chinese nationals
Recently, the Philippine National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detained at least 79 Chinese nationals at a factory in Bulacan province. Among them, 36 individuals were found to have incomplete work documents, and only 23 held tourist visas.
The Embassy of China in the Philippines has responded to the detention of multiple Chinese nationals by local authorities.
A spokesperson for the embassy stated that they are highly concerned about the safety and legal rights of Chinese citizens in the Philippines. The embassy immediately activated emergency protocols to verify the specifics upon learning of the situation. Consular officers were dispatched to visit the detained Chinese enterprise personnel and provide consular assistance.
Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines, Huang Xilian, and other embassy leaders have engaged with Philippine officials at various levels, urging the Philippines to ensure Chinese citizens' safety and legal rights.
The embassy emphasized its commitment to monitor the progress of this case closely and called on the Philippine authorities to handle the matter legally, fairly, and prudently, ensuring the complete protection of the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese nationals.
