The Subsidized Housing Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HKHA) announced today (July 19) the unanimous approval of the public housing rent review results. Starting in October, public housing rents will increase by 10%. However, tenants will receive a special exemption from the rent hike for the first three months, with the new rent taking effect on January 1 of the following year.
Chairman of the Subsidized Housing Committee Cleresa Wong stated that although there is an exemption period, the decision was made considering the HKHA's financial situation and the extensive 10-year housing development plan, and the HKHA has made every effort to accommodate these arrangements.
