The Chief Executive, John Lee, announced at a press conference today (July 16) that the public consultation on the 2024 Policy Address will be launched today to listen to public views in preparation for the third Policy Address to be delivered in October this year.

Lee pointed out that in the past year, Hong Kong has fulfilled its constitutional obligation to enact local legislation to implement Article 23 of Basic Law, perfected district governance, fully implemented the principle of "patriots ruling Hong Kong", established a protective barrier to safeguard national security, laid the foundation for Hong Kong's long-term stability, and embraced the best opportunity to develop the economy and improve people's livelihood.

Lee said that the government's work focuses on three major areas: developing the economy at full steam and improving people's livelihood; strengthening our strengths and exploring new strengths; and grasping the dual opportunities of our country and the international community.

According to Lee, he and his team will attend more than 40 online and offline consultation forums and two district consultation forums to listen directly to the views of different individuals, professional sectors, district organizations and political parties, as well as to go into the community to have face-to-face exchanges with members of the public and listen to their views.

He hoped that the different measures in this year's Policy Address will help the public to address their daily concerns. As Hong Kong is undergoing economic restructuring, he earnestly hopes that everyone will join hands to offer advice and suggestions for the betterment of Hong Kong.
