The Super Terminal Expo is set to take place from November 5 to 7 at the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE), marking the first time this event will be held in Asia.
The high-profile forum will focus on five major themes, including the impact of emerging technologies such as biometric technology and artificial intelligence on passengers, terminal safety and facilitation, and advanced air traffic.
The event will also feature a Low Altitude Economy Forum, where representatives from electric Vertical Take-off and Landing (eVTOL) aircraft suppliers like EHang, AutoFlight, and AEROFUGIA will discuss urban air mobility.
The expo is organized in collaboration with the Hong Kong Tourism Board, allowing international and domestic participants to visit local museums for free and enjoy discounts on attractions.
Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Vivian Cheung, stated that now is the optimal time to bring this significant event to Hong Kong. It will foster creativity and business opportunities in the aviation and transportation sectors and boost Hong Kong's overall economy, further enhancing the city's appeal for international events.
Cheung also mentioned that the airport's Three-runway System construction will be completed by the end of the year, which is expected to increase passenger and cargo handling capacity by 50%, serving up to 120 million passengers.
Regarding the new passenger facilities, she noted that while the airport's traffic has returned to 80% of pre-pandemic levels, it is expected to reach 100% by the end of the year. The decision to activate new passenger facilities will depend on future traffic assessments.
