Data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed today (July 15) that according to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) in the first half of 2024 reached 61,683.6 billion yuan, up by 5.0% year on year at constant price.
By industry, the added value of the primary industry was 3.066 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%; the added value of the secondary industry was 23.653 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.8%; and the added value of the tertiary industry was 34.9646 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.6%.
By quarter, the GDP grew by 5.3% year-on-year in the first quarter and by 4.7% in the second quarter.
