Citybus announced today (July 11) that Hong Kong's first double-deck hydrogen bus will run through a road tunnel for the first time this Sunday (July 14), picking up passengers on Route 170.
The first cross-harbor hydrogen bus will run from Wah Fu to Shatin Station at 1:30 pm, passing through the Aberdeen Tunnel, Cross Harbour Tunnel and Lion Rock Tunnel.
Last month, the government published the Strategy of Hydrogen Development in Hong Kong and proposed to arrange for hydrogen buses to run through the tunnels.
Citybus' double-decked hydrogen buses are also the first to operate on Hong Kong Island and in the New Territories. The double-decked hydrogen buses were launched in February this year and operated on three routes in Kowloon, namely Route 20, 22M and 20A.
