Hong Kong Financial Secretary Paul Chan announced today (July 10) at the Chinese Kungfu x Dance Carnival that the number of tourists visiting HK in the first half of this year has surpassed 21 million.

He expressed optimism that the series of events scheduled for the second half of the year will attract both local and international participants, allowing them to enjoy the vibrant experiences of HK and bringing more popularity and economic benefits to the city.

Chan highlighted that the current carnival, a fusion of martial arts and dance, is supported by the Mega Arts and Cultural Events Fund and stands out as one of this year's significant cultural events.

The carnival features an array of programs combining martial arts, dance, film, and traditional costumes. It brings together renowned martial artists and dancers worldwide, promising a rich cultural experience for all attendees.

Chan elaborated on HK's unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures, emphasizing the city's efforts to become a hub for cultural and artistic exchanges.

He hopes that the diverse range of cultural, artistic, and sports events will enhance the symbiotic relationship between culture and tourism, attracting more visitors and boosting the tourism, dining, and retail sectors. Additionally, he believes these events will offer international visitors a clearer view of HK's dynamic and vibrant character.
