The China Meteorological Administration released the Blue Book on Climate Change of China (2024) today (July 4), providing a comprehensive overview of global and domestic climate changes across various spheres, including the atmosphere, hydrosphere, cryosphere, biosphere, and climate change drivers, according to Securities Times.
According to the report, China is a sensitive and significantly impacted region regarding global climate change, with notable alterations occurring in multiple aspects of its climate system. Long-term climate observation data indicates a marked increase in the frequency, intensity, and duration of extreme high-temperature events.
The atmospheric water-holding capacity has increased alongside rising temperatures, leading to more frequent and intense extreme heavy rainfall events. Over the long-term trends, the number of warm days per year in China has increased by an average of 6.7 days per decade. Additionally, the number of days with heavy rain accumulation across the country has risen by 4.1 days per decade.
