Two dolphin carcasses were found on Pui O Beach in Lantau, one of which was a newborn. The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation has been notified and is following up on the situation, having already taken the carcasses back for necropsy and analysis.
A spokesperson said that the two dolphin carcasses were found close to each other. One was an adult about 2.4 meters long and was severely decomposed, while the other was a newborn, and only skeletal remains were left.
The Ocean Park Conservation Foundation urges the public to call the 1823 hotline if they discover stranded whales, dolphins, sharks, or porpoises and to provide the time, location, and photos of the stranding.
The Foundation also urges the public to take their trash with them when going to sea and avoid using shampoo and shower gel on boats to prevent untreated chemicals from directly polluting the marine environment.
