The Leisure & Cultural Services Department (LCSD) announced on July 2 that it will hold Sport For All Day on August 4, during which a series of recreation and sports programs will be open to the public for free.
This year's event will focus on parent-child exercise.
Recreation activities, health talks, fitness corners, sports demonstrations and participation activities for the elderly and people with disabilities as well as parent-child exercises will be held from 2 pm to 6 pm on the event day at designated sports centres in 18 districts.
LCSD facilities that will also be open for free include indoor and outdoor leisure facilities, public swimming pools and craft hiring at water sports centers. Booking arrangements will be announced in mid-July.
Sports demonstrations will be featured on a live webcast via the event website and the LCSD Plusss Facebook page from 2 pm on the day.
To implement the policy measure relating to the promotion of sports for all as specified in the 2023 Policy Address, the department will collaborate with the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) and more than 10 sports organizations and private reactional organizations to hold free recreation and sports programs for the public.
With the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and Paralympic Games being held soon, Sport For All Day will feature activities on selected Olympic sports in order to promote public understanding and create an Olympics atmosphere.
The SF&OC will set up a Sport for All Fun Day activity booth at the Festival of Sports in Kwun Tong on August 3 and 4.
Additionally, more than 10 organizations will hold free recreation and sports programs for the public or open up their facilities for free use on the event day.
