The 62-day national railway summer transportation in 2024 was officially launched on July 1. The country's railways are expected to carry 860 million passengers, with an average of 13.87 million daily passengers from July 1 to Aug. 31.
The Transportation Department of China Railway Group stated that it will increase transportation capacity and optimize ticketing services to meet the summer travel needs of passengers to the greatest extent.
Based on the implementation of the peak train operation chart for the third quarter, 276 additional temporary passenger trains are scheduled to be operated daily, an increase of 128 trains compared with the same period in 2023, and an average of approximately 11,500 passenger trains are planned to be operated daily, according to the group.
In addition, the China Railway Group will actively promote new ticket services and adopt methods such as adding temporary passenger trains, reconnecting electric multiple units, and adding carriages to normal-speed trains to increase transport capacity in popular directions.
