Organizers of this year's book fair said on Tuesday (June 25) that they hope to attract visitors worldwide by showcasing props and manuscripts from popular Hong Kong movies and dramas.
The fair's theme this time will be film and television literature and the event will feature AI-generated movie images, as well as talks by the author of a book on the now-demolished Kowloon Walled City.
"The government has been very active in promoting mega events and hoping to attract many tourists as well as Greater Bay Area citizens to Hong Kong. So, I think we play a part in the book fair," said Sophia Chong, deputy executive director of the Trade Development Council.
"I think it's quite attractive to get all the families, the Greater Bay Area fans, and even those from Southeast Asia to come to Hong Kong."
Chong also said all exhibitors are aware of the need to comply with national security laws and other regulations.
"We have been asking our exhibitors to observe the rules and regulations of the Hong Kong Book Fair… They have been very observant in observing all these rules and regulations and also the rules in Hong Kong, including the [National Security Law] and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance," she said.
The event, at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, will run from July 17 to July 23, with the Sports and Leisure Expo and the World of Snacks taking place at the venue at the same time.
