Julius Baer has released the latest edition of its Global Wealth & Lifestyle Report, which summarizes the cost of living in the world's major cities. The Asia-Pacific region is home to two of the world's most expensive cities: Singapore and Hong Kong.
According to the report, Singapore has been the most expensive city in the world for two consecutive years. Shanghai dropped to No. 4 from No. 2 last year due to challenges in the real estate market, while Tokyo fell to No. 23 as the Japanese yen weakened. Hong Kong is the only city in Asia-Pacific to rise in the rankings, moving up from 3rd to 2nd place, with Hong Kong remaining the 2nd most expensive city in the world for real estate and the most expensive city in the world for lawyers.
