The dragon boat races held in Tai O are vibrant and can promote Chinese culture, attracting many tourists, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak said during her attendance at the Tai O Dragon Boat Water Parade today (June 10).

Mak mentioned that in preparation for the upcoming typhoon and rainy seasons, the Islands District Office of the Home Affairs Department conducted a simulation rescue and evacuation drill for severe flooding in the area last month, in collaboration with various government departments and local organizations.

This exercise is believed to enhance the response capabilities of departments and residents in dealing with severe flooding and increase awareness of contingency plans among residents, she noted.
