The Chinese Culture Festival 2024 "Encountering Chinese Culture" Carnival held its kick-off ceremony this afternoon (June 9). Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Kevin Yeung said he hoped that the event could bring the general public closer to culture and arts, and enhance the community's understanding of, interest in, and empathy for the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
Yeung said the Chinese Culture Festival, which was unveiled a few days ago, will showcase the unique charm of Chinese culture to the public, tourists, and art lovers through diversified and interactive programs.
"I hoped that the series of arts and cultural activities would make good use of Hong Kong's tourism resources and lead to the development of related industries," he noted.
Following the launch of the Chinese Culture Festival, the "Encountering Chinese Culture" Carnival was also held today. The event relied on Sun Hung Kai Properties to provide the venue, with the active participation of non-government organizations, social welfare agencies and schools, to further demonstrate the cooperation between the Government, the business sector and the public, to promote the traditional Chinese culture, to carry forward the core values of love for the country and love for Hong Kong, and to forge a social consensus for the building of a better city.
