Starting on June 15, High-Speed Rail launches EMU Sleeper Train connecting Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Beijingxi Station and Shanghai Hongqiao Station. You can depart from any of these cities every Friday to Monday night and arrive at your destination the following morning. Enjoy a restful sleep and embark on your exciting itinerary in the early morning.
In a blog post today (June 8), Secretary for Transport and Logistics, Mr. Lam Sai-hung, stated that the two inaugural train tickets, which went on sale on Wednesday (June 5), received an enthusiastic response from passengers. He also mentioned that he will be boarding the inaugural train to experience this significant journey with other passengers.
Lam said he has a deep connection with the high-speed rail, recalling his 10-year tenure at the Railway Development Office of the Highways Department, where he was responsible for planning, designing, and constructing the Hong Kong section of the high-speed rail. As the Secretary for Transport and Logistics, he has also been involved in promoting the operational development of the Hong Kong section of the high-speed rail. He will depart for Beijing West Station on the D910 train next Saturday (June 16) to create another memorable experience alongside the high-speed rail.

Lam mentioned that some elderly citizens have expressed joy in comfortably and conveniently traveling back to their hometowns to visit their families. He said he is very pleased to see that the government's measures are people-oriented and that citizens benefit from them, which drives the government's progress.
Lam also noted that the sleeper trains will arrive at their destinations before 7 a.m., providing an earlier option for business travelers or other travelers who have events in Beijing or Shanghai, in addition to saving time on the commute from the airport to the city center, as many high-speed rail stations are located in the central areas. Travelers who enjoy rail journeys can also appreciate the scenic views in the early morning.
