About 27 hours after taking off from the US state of Florida, Boeing's Starliner spacecraft docked with the International Space Station (ISS) on Thursday.

The spacecraft docked to the ISS at 1:34 p.m. Eastern Time Thursday.

NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams will soon make their way into the orbital laboratory, where they will spend about a week.

The spacecraft launched at 10:52 a.m. Eastern Time Wednesday.

The first crewed mission of Starliner spacecraft aims to test the spacecraft and its subsystems before NASA certifies the transportation system for rotational missions to the orbiting laboratory for the agency's Commercial Crew Program.

In addition to transporting the two astronauts, Starliner has on board about 760 pounds (345 kilograms) of cargo, including 307 pounds (139 kilograms) for NASA, such as food and items requested by the crew while on the space station.
