X8.7 solar flare erupts in largest of sun cycle
The sun erupted the strongest flare of the 25th solar week, at X8.7 magnitude, the Space Environment Prediction Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences released information on solar flare activity today (May 15).
According to the Associated Press, this is the strongest solar flare since 2005.
