
The National Immigration Administration of China (NIA) will hold a press conference at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday (May 15) on the full implementation of the visa-free entry policy for foreign tour groups on cruise ships.
Since the beginning of this year, China has implemented the visa-free entry policy with a number of countries and a series of measures to facilitate the movement of people, and the number of people entering and exiting the country under the visa-free policy has also increased rapidly.
The NIA announced earlier that during the May Day holiday this year, there were 4.768 million entries and exits of mainland residents, representing an increase of 38% over the same period last year; 2.919 million entries and exits of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents, representing an increase of 20.8% over the same period last year; and 779,000 entries and exits of foreigners, representing an increase of 98.7% over the same period last year. A number of popular tourist ports have seen peaks in passenger traffic.
