Watch This | Ban it, rather than beat it – How the U.S. deals with Chinese electric cars

By Chuan Lung

On April 11 local time, Sherrod Brown, Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee (representing Ohio), wrote to President Biden, urging him to " take bold, aggressive action and to permanently ban EVs produced by Chinese companies or whatever subsidiaries they establish to conceal their origins." This is the strongest statement made by U.S. lawmakers on this issue to date.

Such policy proposals could exacerbate trade tensions between China and the United States, triggering retaliatory measures and impacting broader bilateral trade relations. In today's globalized world, where supply chains are deeply intertwined,  unilateral trade restrictions often lead to chain reactions, affecting numerous related industries and employment.
