CE: Multiple promotional events to be held upon 10th anniversary of Stock Connect
Chief Executive John Lee said Tuesday (April 23) that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Stock Connect between Hong Kong and the Mainland.
Speaking at a press conference before attending the weekly Executive Council meeting, Lee said the government and the HKEX are organizing a number of key promotional activities, including a flagship summit and a number of forums to be held on the Mainland, in Hong Kong and overseas, to highlight the scheme's achievements, experiences, new developments, and the financing and investment opportunities it has brought to enterprises, with a view to attracting more enterprises and capitals.
Lee said that in order to attract more capital to the Hong Kong stock market, the government will focus on introducing the latest expansion measures and new products to mainland institutional investors and securities firms.
He added that in terms of attracting enterprises, the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises, Invest Hong Kong as well as the mainland and overseas Economic and Trade Offices will also actively promote opportunities in HK and provide assistance to key enterprises to attract them to raise capital in the city
Lee pointed out that HKEX will continue to organize and participate in various outreach activities to introduce HK's financial market to enterprises interested in listing in Hong Kong, in particular the leading mainland enterprises, and provide them with assistance in their applications.
Lee emphasized that the SAR government will continue to maintain close communication with the Central Authorities to strive for more policies that benefit Hong Kong and focus on economic development and people's livelihood.
