Digital Economy Summit opens today

The "2024 Digital Economy Summit," co-organized by the Innovation,  Technology and Industry Bureau and Cyberport, is set to be held today (April 12) and tomorrow at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. With the theme "Smarter Technovation for All: Forging a Sustainable Future".

This flagship event of Asian innovation and technology will feature eight specialized forums, bringing together over 100 technology, business, academic leaders, and policymakers from overseas, mainland China, and Hong Kong to engage in in-depth discussions on a range of hot topics in innovation and technology, including intelligent economy, industrial digitalization, smart living, artificial intelligence, and energy.

The two-day summit will kick off with the Vision Insight Forum, with the Financial Secretary, Paul Chan, and the Secretary for Innovation, Technology, and Industry, Sun Dong, serving as the guest of honor. Following the opening ceremony, there will be keynote speeches and thematic discussions featuring numerous local and international guests, including representatives from Alibaba, Huawei, Cisco, AirAsia MOVE, Visa, AECOM, Nvidia, Airport Authority Hong Kong, PayPal, Port of Hamburg, Food Panda, Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings, and CLP Holdings.

The second day of the summit will begin with the Smart Finance Forum, featuring speeches by the Deputy Financial Secretary, Michael Wong Wai-lun, and the Chairman of Cyberport, Simon Chan. Representatives from various renowned institutions and companies, including the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Bank of Thailand, Bank of China (Hong Kong), Ant Group, HashKey, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Huaxia Fund, M+, the Housing Society, Chow Tai Fook Educational Group, and JD Technology, will participate in multiple keynote speeches and discussion sessions to share their insights.
