Starting tomorrow (April 1), some government departments and some buildings will implement the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) Charging Demonstration Scheme. Speaking to the media today (March 31), Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Warner Cheuk said the Scheme would be followed by a collection of views from participants before further deployment.
Cheuk also said the Scheme was designed to enable participants to understand the process, the actual operation of the scheme and the problems and difficulties faced through different scenarios.
The Administration would collect views and aimed to come to the Legislative Council in May or June to give an account of the progress.
It was reported that the inter-departmental group chaired by Cheuk would follow up the trial of the Scheme, including the level of public participation and their understanding of the Scheme, etc., so as to take the next step forward.
