Peng Liyuan inspects primary TB control work in Changsha
Recently, Peng Liyuan, Goodwill Ambassador of the World Health Organization (WHO) for Tuberculosis and AIDS (TB/AIDS) Prevention and Control, visited Dongjing Street in Yuhua District, Changsha, Hunan Province, to study the work of TB prevention and control at the grassroots level. Mr. Wang Hesheng, Deputy Director of the National Health Commission and Director of the National Administration of Disease Control and Prevention, and Mr. Zhang Yingchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Governor of Hunan Province, participated in the visit.
March 24 is the 29th World Tuberculosis Day. Peng first visited the Yuhua District Health Education Center to hear about the introduction of health knowledge promotion and the construction of the local TB control system and mechanism, and she encouraged everyone to collaborate as propagandists and volunteers to popularize better TB prevention and treatment among community residents and youth.
Peng visited grassroots medical workers at the Dongjing Street Community Health Service Center to learn about managing primary TB diagnosis and treatment services. She exchanged views with recovered tuberculosis patients, children, and parents waiting for vaccination, learned about TB prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, and expressed her hope that we will continue to work together to contribute to the end of the TB epidemic.
