In collaboration with the Hong Kong Society for the Blind, KMB has for the first time selected 15 bus stops in Sham Shui Po District for the installation of Radio Frequency Identification Devices (RFID) to help the visually impaired locate the correct bus stops.

KMB has upgraded these 15 bus stops to "Sound Bus Stops", which are mainly located at Cheung Sha Wan Road, Sham Shui Po, to cater to the need for more social welfare organizations serving the visually impaired in the vicinity.

The radio frequency identification system is installed at those bus stops. When a visually impaired person holding a card is 3 meters away from the bus stop, the system will be triggered to broadcast the bus route read aloud by a human voice. The System can be triggered by the card even if the visually impaired person carries the card in his/her shirt pocket or backpack.
