The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stood at 2.9% in the three months from October to December, unchanged from the September to November period, official data showed.
The underemployment rate also remained unchanged at 1%.
Total employment decreased by around 1,900 to 3,706,800, while the labour force shrank by around 8,600 to 3,821,500.
The number of unemployed people decreased by around 6,700 to 105,700. The number of underemployed people was 37,000, about the same as the figure for the September to November period.
Secretary for Labour & Welfare Chris Sun said the unemployment rates of various sectors stayed low from October to December, mostly declining or staying unchanged compared with the preceding three-month period.
He added that while a persistently unfavourable external environment might have some negative effects, an expected further recovery in inbound tourism and private consumption will support labour demand.
