
The dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CHUK), Francis Chan, who is stepping down this month, has expressed his hope that he will continue to develop his vision and ideals for innovation and technology in medicine after he leaves his post, and to help HK to become a center of innovation and technology in medicine.
Chan pointed out that he believes that the industry of innovation and technology in medicine could definitely become a leading industry and an important support to the overall economy. He said that the prerequisite for HK to become a medical innovation and technology hub is to establish a comprehensive and huge medical database and biological sample database, so as to attract international pharmaceutical companies to come to HK to research new medicines.
Chan will be succeeded by Philip Chiu, associate dean of the faculty.
