Singaporean Transport Minister S. Iswaran has resigned from the government and parliament, the prime minister said Thursday (Jan. 18), after the cabinet minister was charged with 27 offences in a rare high-level corruption probe.
He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Iswaran submitted his resignation on January 16 after being given formal notice of the charges against him.
Iswaran was charged with corruption, obtaining items from someone he had business dealings with as a public servant, and obstructing the course of justice, said local media reports.
