Hong Kong Marathon 2024 will take place next Sunday (Jan. 21), marking its 26th anniversary. This race is Hong Kong's largest annual marathon with a quota of 74,000 participants.
Every year, thousands of local runners and overseas elites participate in this IAAF Gold Label race.
There are a number of categories, but the most popular are the full marathon which is 42km long, the half marathon at 21km, and the 10k run. In addition, there is a Family Run, a Youth Dash, and a 10km and 3km Wheelchair race too, making it an event open for all levels of competitors.
The full marathon takes runners on a challenging route from Nathan Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, up into Kowloon, over the Stonecutter's Bridge through Tsing Yi island. Runners then make their way back down into Kowloon, through the Western Harbour Tunnel to Hong Kong Island, and finish at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay.
All races will finish at Victoria Park and another great place to catch the race is of course on Nathan Road, as well as on Hennessy Road in Wan Chai, heading to the finish line.
