The Federation of Hong Kong Industries (FHKI) announced the establishment of its new 33rd industry group (Biotechnology and Healthcare) today (Jan. 12). Biotechnology and healthcare are key emerging industries in Hong Kong. FHKI strongly believes that establishing a dedicated industry group for this sector is imperative and timely, as it accurately reflects the prevailing industrial landscape and promotes industry growth, serving such relevant businesses better.
FHKI Industry Group 33 (Biotechnology and Healthcare) covers manufacturing companies engaging in biotechnology, bio-medical, Chinese medicine, health supplements, and health devices. According to the FHKI established procedures and also, similar to the standard protocol observed by other FHKI industry groups, one Chairman and one Vice Chairman will be elected to the newly formed FHKI Industry Group 33 sometime in early March; such elected Chairman and Vice Chairman will assume their roles as FHKI General Committee members accordingly.

The formation of this new Industry Group 33 marks another milestone achievement of FHKI since 2015 in terms of adding another key new industry subgroup under FHKI. The current subgroups (Industry Groups 28 to 32) were added in 2015, namely, "Spectacles and Optical Products," "Fur and Leather Garments," "Creative Industries," "Design," and "Automation Solutions".
