
The Hong Kong section of the Express Rail Link (XRL) recorded over 17 million passenger trips between the beginning of this year and last month, surpassing the 2019 annual figure. MTR announced that starting from Jan. 10, 2024, the Hong Kong section of the XRL will increase the frequency of trains between West Kowloon Station and Futian Station from 74 to 98 per day, and postpone the departure time of the last train of some short-distance trains.
The MTR stated that according to the arrangement of the relevant Mainland authorities, the pre-sale of tickets for cross-boundary XRL trains starting from Jan. 10 next year will begin this Friday (Dec. 29).
Under the new arrangement, the last train from West Kowloon Station to Futian Station will be delayed to 11:00 p.m., and the last train from Futian Station to West Kowloon Station will be delayed to 10:31 p.m.; the last train from Guangzhou East Station to West Kowloon Station will be delayed to 8:50 p.m.
