Coldest Winter Solstice in 22 years: Citizens bundled up for winter
The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius on Winter Solstice's morning (Dec. 22), marking the lowest temperature since the beginning of winter. It could be the coldest Winter Solstice in 22 years.
Tai Mo Shan recorded a temperature below freezing last night, with a minimum of minus 0.4 degrees Celsius. HKO predicts that the cold weather will continue during the weekend and Christmas, but the sky will clear up in the early part of next week, and temperatures will gradually rise in the middle of next week. Today, citizens have started to wear winter clothing for outdoor activities.
