Effective Sunday morning (Dec. 17), time-varying toll charges were implemented across the three cross-harbour tunnels. Overall, the traffic flow appeared to be smooth.
Under the new system, Monday to Saturday, the crossing fee during non-peak daytime hours is HK$30, while during nighttime hours, it is HK$20.
During the "transitional time slots" preceding the morning and evening rush hours, the toll will gradually increase by HK$2 every two minutes, reaching HK$60 at the Western Harbour Crossing and HK$40 at the Cross-Harbour Tunnel and the Eastern Harbour Crossing.
Outside of the busiest hours, the tolls will decrease at the same incremental rate. Simplified charging rules are in place for Sundays and public holidays. Additionally, a fixed fee of HK$25 and HK$50 apply for taxis and commercial vehicles respectively.
