Following the Beijing subway train accident on Thursday (Dec. 14) night on the Changping line, 515 passengers were transported to the hospital for evaluation; of them, 102 were confirmed to have fractures. No fatalities were reported, local authorities announced on Friday (Dec. 15).
Preliminary investigations showed that slippery tracks caused by snow led to the emergency braking and halt of a train in front. The rear train, situated in a downhill section, experienced sliding and failed to effectively brake, resulting in a collision with the front train, according to the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.
The Chinese capital was hit by heavy snow on Thursday (Dec. 14).
