Chris Tang: Officers deployed to ensure safe elections
Secretary for Security Chris Tang today (Dec. 10) said the disciplined forces have deployed many officers to ensure that the voting process for the District Council Elections is conducted in a safe, orderly, and peaceful manner.
"That includes more than 10,000 police officers, as well as hundreds of special constables from various disciplined forces, over a thousand auxiliary police officers, members of the Civil Aid Service and the Medical Auxiliary Service," Tang told reporters after casting his vote in Ho Man Tin.
"The Security Bureau has also established a monitoring and support center at government headquarters to coordinate with other government departments in case there's an emergency."
He went on to say that if someone tries to break the law, do something destructive, or block voting, law enforcement will act immediately.
