
A top Chinese military official on Monday (Oct. 30) slammed certain countries for "deliberately creating turmoil" and said military ties with the US will be developed, as a defense conference opened in Beijing.
The opening ceremony for the 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum was held today in the Chinese capital.
"We will deepen strategic cooperation and coordination with Russia, and on the basis of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, develop military ties with the U.S.," Zhang Youxia, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission, said during a keynote address at the forum.
The U.S. defence department has sent a delegation led by Cynthia Xanthi Carras, China country director in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense.
